Configure segments: Process
Learn how to configure segments
To configure segments, click your username at the top right and navigate to Settings > Finance > Configure Segments.
You can:
- Create segments
- Edit segments
- Delete segments
Create segments
To create a segment:
- Click add new segment.
- Define the segment. All fields are required. The following table describes the fields.
Field Description Segment Name The segment name must be unique. The segment name appears in summary journal entries.
If the segment is used in a journal run, the segment name appears as a field available for export on the Journal Entry object in the Journal Entry Item data source.
Character limit: 100
System ID Enter a system ID or use the system ID that is automatically generated when you enter a segment name. The system ID must be unique.
If the segment is used in a journal run, the system ID becomes a field that you can query through the Journal Entry Item data source using Export ZOQL.

Object Select an object from the drop-down menu. Field The Field drop-down populates with fields associated with the object you selected in the Object field. Any custom fields that you have created on that object will also appear.
Note: Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) are currently not supported by GL Segments.Zuora is working on removing this limitation by supporting ACF for GL segments and segmentation rules. During this period, use the existing custom fields UI to setup GL segments associated to custom fields.

Click save.
Edit segments
You cannot edit a segment if it is used in an active GL segmentation rule.
To edit a segment:
- Click Edit in the Actions column to the right of the segment you want to edit.
- Make any changes to the fields of the segment.
- Click save.
Delete segments
You cannot delete a segment if it is used in an active GL segmentation rule.
To delete a segment, click Remove in the Actions column to the right of the segment.
