Segment source value mapping configuration
Configure segment source value mappings using pass-through rules and bulk upload to streamline GL segment setup for billing-related journal entries.
When configuring GL Segments for journal entries related to billing activities, you must define the mapping between Segment Source Values and GL Mapping Values. This feature introduces two enhancements to simplify the Segment Source Value configuration experience:
Pass-through rule — Automatically populate GL Mapping Values with the same values as Segment Source Values, eliminating redundant manual entry when the two are identical.
Bulk upload — Upload Segment Source Value to GL Mapping definitions in bulk, removing the need to manually key in each mapping.
This feature is available with GL Segment 2.0.
The pass-through rule applies uniformly to all source values within a given segment. You cannot selectively apply pass-through to individual values.
When using the bulk upload, ensure that all Segment Source Values in the file match the values available in your configured segment source field.
Pass-through rule
If your Segment Source Values are always the same as the corresponding GL Mapping Values, you can enable the pass-through rule instead of manually configuring each mapping. For example:
Region | Segment Source Value | GL Mapping Value |
|---|---|---|
NOAM | 001 | 001 (auto-populated) |
EMEA | 002 | 002 (auto-populated) |
LATAM | 003 | 003 (auto-populated) |
For steps to enable the pass-through rule, refer to Enable the pass-through rule.
Bulk upload of segment source value mappings
For scenarios where Segment Source Values differ from GL Mapping Values, you can upload the mappings in bulk rather than entering them individually. For example:
Region | Segment Source Value | GL Mapping Value |
|---|---|---|
NOAM | NOAM | 001 |
EMEA | EMEA | 002 |
LATAM | LATAM | 003 |
For steps to upload segment source value mappings, refer to Upload segment source value mappings.
