Testing recommendations in Avalara for Germany

Guidelines for testing Germany-specific Avalara document flows, including discount scenarios and supported download formats.

For Germany, the pre-integrated package should be validated against the supported Peppol mandate, UBL outbound format, Peppol process mapping, and XML, PDF, and UBL_XML download types. Your testing objective is to confirm that Germany billing documents created in Zuora are accepted by Avalara, transformed correctly into the expected outbound format, and exposed through the expected operational and download flows.

Prerequisites in Avalara

Verify the following in Avalara before you start formal testing:

  • The Germany company is activated for Avalara E-Invoicing and Live Reporting.

  • The Peppol mandate is selected for the Germany implementation.

  • The Peppol identifier for the Germany legal entity is configured in Avalara.

  • Your team understands which Germany output files are expected to be retrieved from Avalara after submission.

Prerequisites in Zuora

Verify the following in Zuora before you submit test documents:

  • The Germany business region is configured for Avalara.

  • The customer e-invoicing profile data needed for Germany submissions is complete.

  • The sold-to contact and other source data used in the outbound payload are complete and accurate.

  • The invoices, credit memos, and debit memos used for testing are posted and associated with the correct Germany configuration.

What to validate

When you design your Germany test plan, validate that:

  • Zuora-generated billing documents are submitted to Avalara through the Germany Peppol flow.

  • Avalara accepts or rejects documents according to the Germany configuration and payload content.

  • The expected output files can be retrieved in the supported download formats.

  • Operational users can review statuses, error information, and corrected resubmissions as part of normal business operations.
