Edit active Commitments

Learn how to edit an existing active Commitment on a quote in Zuora CPQ while Zuora Billing remains the system of record for consumption, drawdown, and true-up calculations.

You can edit an existing active Commitment in Zuora CPQ from the Commitments section on a quote, provided that the Commitment belongs to the same invoice owner account. Once changes are saved and sent to Zuora, Zuora Billing remains the system of record for consumption, drawdown, and true-up calculations, and Zuora CPQ reflects those results.

  1. In Salesforce, open a new, amendment, or renewal quote for the Commitment that you want to edit.

When Commitments are enabled and your profile has access, the Commitments section appears and lists Commitments owned by that invoice owner account.

  2. In the Commitments section, locate the existing Active Commitment that you want to update.
The list can include Commitments created in Zuora CPQ and Commitments synced from Zuora Billing.
  3. Click the Edit icon.

Commitment Owner Account is read-only and always matches the quote's invoice owner.

The Commitment Number for existing Commitments is visible but cannot be edited in Zuora CPQ because it is generated by Billing.

  4. In Commitment Schedules, modify the schedules that remain editable:
    • If any period in a schedule has drawdown, you can update the schedule amount.

    • If any period in a schedule has already been evaluated, you cannot update the schedule amount.

  5. Save the changes and send the quote to Zuora.

Zuora Billing remains the system of record for consumption, drawdown, and true-up calculations. Zuora CPQ reflects those results but does not replace Billing as the source of record.
