The Checkout.com payment gateway integration supports credit card surcharges
The Checkout.com payment gateway integration supports credit card surcharges calculated by Zuora's Payment Surcharges engine:
Scope
- Supported for credit card transactions processed via payment runs and payment retries.
- Requires the Payment Surcharges feature and Invoice Settlement to be enabled in the tenant.
- Not evaluated for payments created directly via the Zuora UI, API, Payment Pages 2.0, or Payment Form.
- Zuora evaluates surcharge eligibility and calculates the surcharge (fee + surcharge tax) during payment runs based on the configured surcharge decision table.
- The surcharge amount is added to the payment total and passed to Checkout.com via the
processing.surcharge_amountfield in the payment request payload.
- Surcharge legality and card‑scheme rules vary by region and card type. Zuora does not enforce regional restrictions in the gateway integration; customers must configure surcharge rules and BIN eligibility to comply with local regulations and scheme rules (e.g., Visa/Mastercard credit only in the U.S., no surcharges on prohibited consumer cards).
