Functionality-specific default mappings
Functionality-Specific Default Mappings are Zuora-provided templates that simplify configuring complex integrations by loading predefined field mappings you can review and customize.
Functionality-Specific Default Mappings are predefined mapping templates that Zuora provides for selected Integration Hub capabilities. These templates help you configure integrations when the source and target data models do not align one to one.
This capability is currently available for selected connector capabilities, including Salesforce CPQ for Billing. Instead of starting from a single default mapping, you can select a template that matches your integration scenario and then customize the mappings as needed.
Why use Functionality-Specific Default Mappings
Use this feature when your Zuora data model depends on the business scenario you are implementing. For example, different customers might need to map Salesforce CPQ orders and order items to Zuora subscriptions, order actions, or related objects in different ways.
Functionality-Specific Default Mappings help you:
Start with Zuora-defined mapping templates for common integration patterns.
Reduce manual effort for complex mapping setups.
Choose a mapping approach that better matches your business model.
How it works
For supported capabilities, Zuora defines a set of mapping templates on the back end. During configuration, you select the template that matches your business requirement. Integration Hub then loads the corresponding default mappings into the Field Mapping page, where you can review and customize them before saving.
Only one template is active at a time for a given capability.
Template behavior
When you select a template, Integration Hub applies the corresponding default mappings for that capability. If you later return to a template that you previously customized, the design for this feature preserves those template-specific modifications so that you do not have to recreate them.
Before changing templates, verify that the source and target systems support the data model defined by the new template. If the new template uses a different object model or data structure, ensure that the source and target data can be mapped correctly to avoid synchronization or transformation issues.
Scope and limitations
Functionality-Specific Default Mappings are available only for selected capabilities where the data models between Zuora and the external system do not match one-to-one. The available templates are predefined by Zuora and can vary by connector and capability. You cannot create your own Functionality Specifications as first-class templates.
For connector-specific examples and supported templates, see the documentation for the relevant connector.
