Credit and debit memo adjustment from invoice items

Preview commitment contributions for a credit or debit memo

Learn how to preview prepayment application and commitment contribution amounts before saving a credit or debit memo created from an invoice.

  • Create the credit memo or debit memo from an invoice.

  • Confirm that the invoice item you want to adjust has already contributed to the commitment.

  • Use an eligible memo item and enter the amount to apply.

When Commitment Management is enabled, you can preview prepayment application and commitment contribution amounts before saving a credit memo or debit memo created from an invoice.

  1. In the memo creation page, select Contribute To Commitment for each memo item that should adjust the commitment balance.
  2. Select Preview Prepayment Application.

    Zuora calculates the drawdown amounts for the eligible memo items and displays the results in the read-only Prepayment Application column. Before you preview the memo, the column displays -- for eligible items.

  • The Prepayment Application column displays the amount applied to each eligible item.

  • Total Amount reflects the memo net total after the prepayment application is included.

  • Select the tooltip icon next to Total Amount to view the Items Subtotal, Prepayment Subtotal, and Memo Net Total.

Previewing is optional and does not prevent you from saving the memo. If the preview fails or no eligible items are selected, Zuora displays an error message.

Changing a memo item amount, changing the Contribute To Commitment selection, or changing the selected items clears the preview. Preview the memo again to recalculate the amounts before saving.

The preview is available for both credit memos and debit memos created from invoices. The existing eligibility rules for memo-based commitment adjustments continue to apply. Standalone invoices, invoice adjustments, and invoice item adjustments are not supported.
