Country-specific configurations in Avalara for India

Configure e-invoicing in Avalara for India

Learn how to configure Avalara and Zuora for India e-invoicing, including mandate activation, seller and buyer setup, and routing transactions for clearance.

Before configuring India e-invoicing, complete the following tasks:

  • Confirm that your Avalara account has E-Invoicing and Live Reporting (ELR) activated for India.

  • Obtain the API credentials and country-specific activation details required by Avalara.

  • Confirm the seller's legal entity information and tax registrations.

  • Identify the customer transactions that must be submitted for clearance.

  • Ensure that Invoice Settlement and Zuora E-Invoicing are enabled in your tenant.

  • Enable the Workflow Script: JavaScript task if it is not already enabled for your tenant.

  1. Configure Avalara for India
    1. Contact Avalara to initiate India-specific e-invoicing activation for your company.
    2. Provide Avalara with the seller information required for India e-invoicing, including your legal entity and tax registration details.
    3. Provide any other country-specific information required by Avalara to activate the India mandate.
    4. Confirm the applicable mandate and transaction scope with Avalara.
    5. Obtain the Avalara API credentials and activation details required to configure the Avalara service provider in Zuora.
  2. Configure Zuora for Denmark
    1. Create an Avalara e-invoicing service provider using the Avalara credentials.
    2. Create an India business region and associate it with the Avalara service provider.
    3. Enter the seller's country, legal business name, legal business number, tax registration number, business address, and contact information.
    4. Configure the e-invoice process as Clearance.
    5. Configure the India e-invoicing profile on the applicable accounts so that the accounts route to the India business region.
    6. Configure the required buyer and seller information, including tax identifiers, addresses, business category, and other mandate-specific data used by the India templates.
    7. Enable the billing document types that you want to submit through Avalara.
