View commitments

Learn how to view commitments, track utilization and balances, and configure threshold notifications to monitor commitment performance.

You can view commitment details under the list of commitments, the commitment details page, or on the subscription page:

  • On the navigation menu under Customers, click Commitments to go to commitment list page, and search for commitments.

  • On the commitment detail page, under the Filter Rules section, click the View Current Contribution Items button to see the items currently contributing to the commitment:

    • Subscription Rate Plan Charges, including one-time, recurring, and usage charges.

    • Dynamic Usage Charges.

  • You can also see which commitments a subscription charge contributes to, directly from the subscription page. On the Subscription page, in the Included products / Charges section, hover over the icon that displays Click to view commitments, and click to view the related commitment information.

This bidirectional navigation lets you move between a commitment and the subscription charges that contribute to it without running a Data Query or a report.

View commitment utilization and balance

Commitments come with reporting and monitoring capabilities to help you track billed spend against committed amounts.

You can view and retrieve the period balance, total billed spend, and true-up amount in the following ways:

  • On the Commitment detail page, expand the Schedules section and view each period.

  • Retrieve the data via the List periods for a commitment API.

  • Pull the Commitment Period data via Data Query, Data Source Export, and Reporting.

You can also preview the period balance with unbilled spend as of a date or through the end of the commitment:

Configure threshold notifications

You can trigger standard and custom event notifications to proactively alert customers or internal teams when commitment thresholds are met.

Examples:

  • The commitment balance for a period falls below a configured monetary threshold: remaining balance ≤ $100.

  • The percentage of remaining balance falls below a configured threshold: remaining balance/committed amount ≤ 10%.

  • The number of remaining days in the current commitment period is below a threshold: ≤ 7 days.

The following Commitment objects are available under the Related Events dropdown when creating an Email Template and Callout Template:

  • Commitment

  • Commitment Period

  • Commitment Schedule

  • Commitment Transaction

  • Commitment Associated Account

  • Commitment Associated Item
