Create new subscription quotes in multi-entity org

Learn how to create a subscription quote from an Opportunity or Account Detail page in Salesforce, with support for entity selection from Quotes version 10.38 onwards.

  • Ensure that the Opportunity against which you want to create a Quote is associated with an account.

  • Ensure that the New Quote (New) button has been added to the Opportunity Detail or Account Detail page. For more information, see Configure Opportunity, Account, and Quote page layouts.

You can select the entity to create, amend, renew, or cancel subscription Quotes if you have multi-entity enabled in your Salesforce org. You can create a subscription quote from an Opportunity, an Account, or any other page that meets your business requirements. The steps in this article assume that Quotes are created from the Opportunity Detail or Account Detail page. Entity selection is supported from Quotes version 10.38 onwards.

The first step of the Quote Studio determines the entity for the Quote as below:

  • If there's only one entity accessible to you, that entity is used.

  • If you registered a custom Select Entity plugin , the plugin selects the entity.

  • If more than one entity is available and there is no custom Select Entity plugin, you must select a billing entity for the new Quote.

Based on the selected entity, billing accounts and products shown in the Product Selector modal are filtered in Quote Studio. The selected entity also determines the value populated when sending the Quote to Zuora and Previewing or anywhere in the Order Requests that require the Billing Entity ID.

  1. In your Salesforce org, navigate to the Account Detail page of an Account or the Opportunity Detail page of an Opportunity.
  2. Click the New Quote (New) button.
  3. Select an entity from the Select a Billing Entity to create a Quote dropdown list and click Next.
    Note:
    • This step is available starting from Quotes version 10.38. You can only define a default entity if you are on a Quotes version lower than 10.38. For more information, see Connect multiple Billing entities to one Salesforce org.
    • After the Quote Studio page loads, you must exit and select the New Quote (New) button to change the selected entity.
    • You must not change the entity after the Quote is created, as it could invalidate products, the billing account, and the subscription.
  4. In Step 1: Select a Billing Account area, select a billing account from the table.
  5. In Step 2: Select a Subscription area, click New Subscription.
  6. Configure Quote information and submit the configuration upon completion. For instructions, see Configure Quote information on the Quote Studio page.
    Entity selection is available for amendment, renewal, and cancellation Quotes.
