Optional charges in hard bundle with ramps and future-dated updates
Explore how optional charges in hard bundles support ramps and future-dated updates in Quote Studio, allowing flexible charge management across segments.
Hard bundle with optional charges support ramps and future-dated updates in Quote Studio.
Basic ramp behavior
For each ramp segment or future-dated version:
You can select or deselect optional charges independently per segment.
When you select an optional charge in the first segment, Zuora CPQ automatically applies that selection to subsequent segments unless it is explicitly deselected.
Similarly, if you deselect an optional charge in the first segment, Zuora CPQ applies that change to subsequent segments unless it is overridden later.
Removing optional charge in later segment
If an optional charge is selected in an earlier segment and then deselected in a later future-dated segment, then:
That later segment represents a removal of the optional charge using an Update Product order action.
Zuora CPQ applies this removal so that the charge is no longer included in subsequent segments.
For any segments after the removal date, the charge row is disabled (grayed out) in the Optional Charges modal when Edit Options is clicked and cannot be added for the same subscription.
Within the same quoting session, while configuring multiple ramp segments before sending to Zuora:
You can still select or deselect charges within segments until you define a removal point.
After you create a later segment beyond the removal, that later segment will not allow you to re-include the charge.
This behavior applies both to standard ramps and to future-dated updates on the subscription.
When a future-dated removal is performed in a new subscription quote, no charge subtotal or delta metrics are generated, and a dash (–) is displayed instead. Charge subtotal metrics are calculated only for the time segments during which the charge is active. As a result, the metrics are already displayed in the earlier segments of the quote where the charge was in effect, and no additional metrics are generated after the future-dated removal.
