Amendments

When you amend an existing subscription with a hard bundle product, Zuora CPQ determines the selection state of optional charges based on the subscription history:

• Previously selected optional charges (still active) are shown as selected.

• Optional charges that were never selected are shown as deselected and selectable.

• Optional charges that were selected and then removed in a prior segment or amendment are still shown but are disabled (grayed out). They cannot be re-added for that subscription.

For optional charges during amendments:

• You can:

  • Select an optional charge that was never selected before.

  • Deselect an optional charge that is currently active in the subscription.

• You cannot:

  • Re-select an optional charge that was selected in a prior term and then removed in a previous amendment or future-dated update.

Renewals

When you renew an existing subscription with a hard bundle, Zuora CPQ determines the selection state of optional charges based on the subscription history:

• Optional charges that are currently active at the time of renewal are shown as selected.

• Optional charges that were never selected are shown as deselected, and can be selected if needed.

• Optional charges that were selected and then removed in an earlier amendment or future-dated update remain unselectable and cannot be added back at renewal.

In both amendment and renewal flows, when you select or deselect optional charges, Zuora CPQ behaves the same way as in new quotes: metrics are recalculated, deselection clears charge-level fields, and only selected charges are included in Orders/Preview payloads.
