Line creation mode configuration
Line creation mode configuration to control how Opportunity Products are split by lifecycle events and billing periods.
Line creation modes control how Opportunity Products are split within each grouping-key group.
| Mode | When to use | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| None | Default, especially with 0 grouping keys | No additional time-period grouping. |
| Action-Based | When Opportunity Products should reflect subscription lifecycle events | Separates by action type (Add/Update/Remove) within groups. |
| Time-Based | When Opportunity Products should align with billing periods. For example, ramps. | Splits groups by calendar periods (Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual, Annual). |
Time-Based Frequencies:

| Monthly | One Opportunity Product per group per month |
| Quarterly | One Opportunity Product per group per quarter |
| Semi-Annual | One Opportunity Product per group per 6 months |
| Annual | One Opportunity Product per group per year |
Time-based mode is disabled when there are 0 grouping keys because each segment is already its own group.
Action-based mode is particularly useful when you need to differentiate adds, expansions, and downsells for the same product.
