Create pending charge on new subscription quote
Learn how to create a pending charge by setting the charge to use a specific trigger event, leaving the trigger date blank, and entering an estimated start date.
- Open or create a new subscription quote in Quote Studio.
- Add a product.
- On the charge row, set Trigger Event to Specific Date.
- Leave Specific Trigger Date blank.
- Enter an Estimated Start Date.
- Submit the quote after you finish configuring the pending charge
When Trigger Event is Specific Date, Specific Trigger Date is blank, and Estimated Start Date is populated, the charge row displays the PENDING badge.
When you submit a quote with pending charges, Zuora CPQ sends estimated Start Date to the Billing Orders API in the charge override.
Zuora CPQ intentionally omits specific Trigger Date, so the charge remains pending in Billing.
When pending charges are present, Billing requires the order status to be Completed.
