Paystack Direct Debit mandate creation

Zuora creates an EFT Debit Order mandate in Paystack before it saves a Paystack Direct Debit payment method. Mandate creation must succeed for the payment method to be saved.

Mandate creation sequence

After the customer submits the bank account details and accepts the consent text, Zuora performs the following actions:

  1. Sends the Paystack Direct Debit details to Paystack.
  2. Creates an EFT Debit Order mandate in Paystack.
  3. Receives the mandate code and mandate status from Paystack.
  4. Saves the payment method in Zuora only when the mandate is created successfully.
  5. Stores the mandate code and active state with the payment method.

Mandate creation failure

When Paystack cannot create the mandate, Zuora does not save the payment method and returns a gateway error. The customer must correct the payment details and submit the form again.

Note: Because the payment method is not saved, no partial or unusable payment method record remains in Zuora after a failed mandate creation.
