Charts and dashboards

Use charts and dashboards to visualize Dataset or Report data, monitor key business metrics, and explore trends and patterns in a single, governed view.

Charts provide visual representations of your data to help you identify trends and patterns at a glance. A chart can display data from a Dataset or a saved Report, using the dimensions and metrics already defined. Dashboards are collections of chart widgets that combine multiple visualizations into a single view, allowing you to monitor key business metrics in one place.

Charts reuse Dataset fields and metrics—they do not introduce new joins or bypass Dataset governance. This ensures your visualizations respect the same data rules and permissions as your reports.

To create a chart when this capability is enabled:
  1. Go to Reports & Dashboards > Charts.

  2. Click Create Chart.

  3. Choose a dataset or select an existing report as your data source.

  4. Select your chart type (bar, line, pie, etc.).

  5. Assign dataset dimensions to chart axes and metrics to values.

  6. Configure chart styling and labels if needed.

  7. Preview your chart.

  8. Save the chart with a name, description, and any relevant tags.

Managing reusable charts

Saved charts are reusable assets that can be added to dashboards or shared with team members. You can organize charts by domain or business purpose, making them easy to discover. Like reports and datasets, charts have ownership and permission controls. Recipients can view and use shared charts, but typically cannot edit or delete them unless they have explicit permission.
