Pending charges in Quote Studio
Use pending charges in Quote Studio to model subscription charges that are not yet billing, based on trigger and date fields, before they are activated.
A pending charge is a subscription charge that has no billing activity yet. It has no trigger date, no billing segments, and no metrics, and it remains a placeholder until the charge is activated.
A pending charge is different from a pending subscription. A quote can include pending subscriptions and pending charges independently.
A charge is treated as pending when all of the following conditions are true:
Trigger Event is set to Specific Date.
Specific Trigger Date is blank.
Estimated Start Date is populated.
Quote Studio derives the pending state from these fields. You do not set a separate status field.
Prerequisites
Before using pending charges in Quote Studio, ensure that the following prerequisites are met:
- To enable the required back-end setting in your Salesforce org and the Pending Subscription Processing setting in your Zuora Billing tenant, contact Zuora Support.
- Your administrator must enable the Enable Pending Charges setting in .
If Pending Subscription Processing is not enabled in the connected Zuora Billing tenant, the Enable Pending Charges setting cannot be saved in the Salesforce org.
When the Enable Pending Charges setting is disabled, Quote Studio hides the Estimated Start Date field and the PENDING badge. No other Quote Studio behavior is affected.
