Enhanced Unit-Based Prepaid with Drawdown (PPDD) in Quote Studio

Enhanced Unit-Based Prepaid with Drawdown charges in Quote Studio let you sell prepaid units up front and consume those units over time.

Overview

In Quote Studio 10.61 and later, you can configure unit-based prepaid with drawdown charges for quotes. After you activate the Enable Advanced Prepaid Drawdown Charges setting in Quote Studio, sales representatives can complete the following tasks:

  • Add unit-based prepayment charges to quotes

  • Add drawdown charges that consume from prepaid balances

  • Configure rollover for unused balances

  • Define validity periods in days, weeks, or months

Use this enhancement when you need more control over unit-based prepaid balances, including scenarios where billing cadence and credit-validity cadence do not match, or when rollover behavior must be configured differently from the original prepaid charge.

Prerequisites

Complete the required setup before you add prepaid with drawdown charges to a quote.

Tenant and feature prerequisites

Ensure that the following prerequisites are met:

  • Zuora Support has enabled and configured the Enhanced PPDD feature for both your Zuora tenant and Salesforce org, including the Fetch Products from Subscription API setting.

  • Ensure that the installed Zuora Quotes managed package version is 10.61 or later.

  • Your Salesforce administrator has activated the Enable Advanced Prepaid Drawdown Charges settings in Quote Studio Admin Config.

  • Users who configure quotes have permission to view and edit the new PPDD fields in Quote Studio.

  • Validate your expected quoting behavior in a sandbox before you roll out the feature to production users.

  • Ensure SOAP API version is 156.0 or later.

  • If you activate the Enable Advanced Prepaid Drawdown Charges feature, you will need to provide the API Client Id and API Client Secret under Zuora Config > Zuora Connection Settings. See Generate authentication credentials to generate API Client Id and API Client Secret.

Product catalog prerequisites

Configure the related charges in the Zuora product catalog before sales representatives use this feature:

  • For topup charges, set Charge Function to Prepayment.

  • For drawdown charges, set Charge Function to Drawdown.

  • Use the same Prepaid UOM for matching topup and drawdown charges.

  • Configure the prepayment charge as a unit-based prepayment charge.

  • If you want to use rollover in quotes, enable rollover in the product catalog for the prepayment charge before you create the quote.

For more information, see Create a Prepaid charge.

Important rollout notes

  • This feature applies to unit-based PPDD scenarios.

  • Rollover cannot be enabled only at quote time if it is not already enabled for the charge in the product catalog.

  • Availability can depend on tenant enablement and permission-set access.

Other considerations

  • If Enable Advanced Prepaid Drawdown Charges setting is deactivated and a charge uses the Specific Days, Specific Weeks, or Specific Months validity period, the initial automatic preview can fail with error 58730022.

To prevent this issue, activate Enable Advanced Prepaid Drawdown Charges settings in Quote Studio Admin Config. When this setting is activated, Quote Studio automatically populates the Specific Validity Period Length field before generating the preview.

  • This feature applies to unit-based PPDD scenarios.

  • Rollover cannot be enabled only at quote time if it is not already enabled for the charge in the product catalog.

  • The Rollover End Date field appears only when the rollover end date type is Specific Date.

  • Validate your expected quoting behavior in a sandbox before you roll out the feature to production users.

Supported scenarios

This enhancement is intended for unit-based PPDD use cases that need more flexible validity and rollover controls, including:

  • Prepaid charges whose credit-validity timing must differ from billing timing

  • Prepaid offerings that use explicit rollover configuration

  • Flows that require rollover behavior to remain available during new, amend, or renew quote operations
