Refresh a Central or Developer Sandbox from your production environment

Learn how to use the self-service feature in your production environment to refresh data on a Central or Developer Sandbox tenant.

  • Zuora Global Support can assist to enable the Central or Developer Admin permission for your production tenant and if the refresh permission is not yet enabled for your tenant.

  • You must be a sandbox administrator or a user with a role that permits data refresh in your sandbox tenant. If no such role exists, a tenant administrator can create a custom Refresh Central Sandbox or Refresh Developer Sandbox role in which they select the Refresh Central or Developer Sandbox checkbox within Platform Permissions. The Refresh Central or Developer Sandbox permission is enabled by default for all tenant administrators and is required to assign the same permission to other roles or users.

  • All production tenant users with Central or Developer Sandbox Admin permission can view refresh jobs progress, but only users with Refresh Central or Developer Sandbox permission can use the self-service refresh feature.

  1. In your production environment, navigate to Administration > Test Environments.
  2. Find the tenant in Active status for which you want to refresh data, and click the tenant ID.
The Central or Developer Sandbox Refresh Jobs page opens.
  3. Navigate to Email Notification > Add, enter a name and email address, and click Save to send email notifications about the refresh.
  4. Click the New Refresh button to start a refresh. You can choose to refresh immediately or schedule the next refresh.

All data in your central or developer sandbox is deleted during the refresh process and data from your production environment is brought over to the sandbox. For central sandbox, the full configuration and transactional data is copied over, and for developer sandbox, only metadata from production is copied over.

You can track the progress of the refresh job or view job histories from the Central or Developer Sandbox Refresh Jobs page. Your sandbox remains unavailable until the refresh is complete.

You can only cancel a refresh job before it reaches the reset stage. It is not possible to cancel a refresh job after the reset stage.
