Set up E-Reporting workflow

Learn how to set up the E-Reporting workflow by configuring Business Regions, templates, and submission triggers.

Before using E-Reporting, ensure the following:

  • Your tenant has the Electronic Invoicing permission enabled.

  • An active e-reporting service provider is configured.

  • The seller legal-entity details are available for Business Region setup.

To start using E-Reporting, complete the following setup in order:

  1. Create a Business Region for each reporting jurisdiction.

A Business Region represents the seller legal and operational profile for a compliance jurisdiction.

    A Business Region typically defines:

    • The reporting jurisdiction.
    • The seller legal identity.
    • The reporting scheme to use, such as GENERIC_EREPORTING, SII, or TICKETBAI.
    • The service provider configuration.
    • Whether documents are submitted individually or in batch.
    • Which document types and trigger events are enabled for submission.
Note: At least one Business Region must exist before E-Reporting submissions can occur.
  2. Create one or more templates for the supported document types and business categories in that Business Region.

Templates define the payload that Zuora submits to the compliance provider for each document type and business category. Each template belongs to a Business Region.

    A template typically defines:

    • The document type, such as invoice, credit memo, debit memo, payment, or refund.
    • The business category, such as B2B, B2C, or B2G.
    • The rendered content used for submission.
    • Whether the template is active and available for live use.
  3. Enable automatic triggers if you want Zuora to submit documents when billing events occur, or configure the process for on-demand submission.

Zuora supports both automatic and manual submission.

If automatic triggers are enabled on the Business Region, Zuora creates an E-Compliance Request and submits the document automatically when the configured event occurs.

    Supported automatic trigger events include:

    • Invoice posted.
    • Credit memo posted.
    • Debit memo posted.
    • Payment applied.
    • Refund applied.
    • Successful e-invoice clearance.
Note: For on-demand submission, you can trigger a submission for a specific document when automatic triggers are disabled or when a document needs to be resubmitted after an issue is corrected.
