Enable and use Flexible Billing Attributes in CPQ X

Subscription payment profile

This articles describes about subscription payment profiles and how to select the payment method and payment gateway for individual subscriptions under the same Billing Account.

Subscription payment profiles lets you specify the payment method and payment gateway for an individual subscription. This is useful when a customer has multiple payment methods or different subscriptions under the same Billing Account require different payment configurations. The selected values are applied to the subscription in Zuora Billing after the subscription is created.

Prerequisites

  • Payment methods and payment gateways are configured in Zuora Billing.

  • The billing account contains at least one active electronic payment method.

  • Flexible Billing in Quote Studio is enabled in Quote Studio settings.

  • The payment page setup is configured for your user profile in Quote Studio.

  • The Electronic Payment Method Processing Option is configured under Zuora Config > Quote Configuration Settings.

  • The Subscription Payment Gateway and Subscription Payment Method fields are added to the CPQX_Subscription_Billing_Attributes field set on the Quote Object to display these fields in Quote Studio.

Note: Cash and Check payment methods are not supported.

Subscription payment profile behavior

The Subscription Payment Profile section displays in Quote Studio based on th following conditions:

  • Flexible Billing is enabled in your Zuora configuration.
  • The Subscription Payment Profile field is included in the applicable field set.

When these conditions are met, Quote Studio displays the Subscription Payment Profile section and automatically loads payment profile values by making the necessary API calls.

If either Flexible Billing is disabled or the Subscription Payment Profile field is not included in the field set, the section remains hidden and no payment profile API calls are initiated.

Configure subscription payment profile

In the Subscription Billing Attributes section of Quote Studio, configure the subscription payment method and subscription payment gateway for the subscription.

Subscription payment method

From the Subscription Payment Method dropdown, perform one of the following action:

  • Select an existing active payment method associated with the Billing Account.

  • Select Create New Payment Method to create a new payment method.

    • Save and Submit the quote. Then create the electronic payment method from the Quote Detail page and then send the quote to Zuora. CPQ stores the created Billing payment method Id on the quote and uses it for the subscription payment profile.

      If the payment method has not been created, CPQ displays a warning during the Send to Zuora process. The same behavior applies to the Multi Subscription Quoting send flow. To create a new payment method, see Create new payment method.

Note: Payment methods display identifying details and the last four digits of the card or bank account number to help users identify the correct payment method.

Subscription payment gateway

From the Subscription Payment Gateway dropdown, perform one of the following action:

  • Select Use Default Gateway to allow Zuora Billing to determine the gateway based on its configured defaults.

  • Select a specific payment gateway configured in Zuora Billing.

Note: Create and configure payment gateways in Zuora Billing before using them in Quote Studio.
