Charge Segment metrics for amendment non-ramp quote with term increase and multiple updates in Quote Studio UI
This article explains how the Charge Segment metrics are mapped to the Charge Subtotal columns within the charge table in an Amendment Quote when the term is increased and multiple updates are made.
The following image shows an amendment quote with the term increase and multiple updates made:
The non-ramp Quote originally had a 12-month initial term. In this amendment quote, the initial term is extended to 24 months. The recurring charge shows multiple future updates. Note the following information from the above image:
- The first segment from Jan 1, 2025, to Jan 31, 2025, has no delta and the charge subtotal is $10 for the monthly price of $10.
- The second segment from Feb 1, 2025, to Feb 28, 2025, is updated to $20, so the subtotal for that month is $20, and the delta is $10, representing the change of $10 from the last contracted price of $10.
- The third segment starts on Mar 1, 2025, and now extends for 22 months to the end of the updated initial term, Dec 31, 2026. However, there are separate period metrics for the original term and the extension, but they are summed up in one row, representing the charge in the table. There is no new row representing the term change for the charge. It is just that the end date of the charge has changed.
The subtotal for the original term from Mar 1, 2025, to Dec 31, 2025, is 10 months * $30 monthly price = $300. The delta for this original period captures the difference between the updated $30 and the original $10, which is $20 * 10 months = $200 delta.
The new extended term subtotal is 12 months * $30 = $360. The delta for this extended term is also $360 because the term did not exist in the original contract.
The charge's subtotal is $300 + $360 = $660 and the delta value is $200 + $360 = $560.
The following is the Period Metrics JSON response that may be compared with the charge table UI values to see how the last charge in the table sums up two period metrics.
