Set up the Vantiv Account Updater

Learn how to configure the Vantiv (now Worldpay) Account Updater service so that Zuora keeps customer credit card information current before each bill cycle.

  • You have a Vantiv (now Worldpay) merchant account with the Account Updater service enabled.
  • You have submitted a request to Zuora Global Support to add your Vantiv Merchant ID (MID) to your tenant.
  1. In the Zuora UI, navigate to Settings > Payments > Setup Payment Method Updater.
  2. From the Updater Type list, select Vantiv, and then click Add Payment Method Updater.
  3. Enter your credentials.
    • In the Name field, enter a name for the updater configuration, for example, Vantiv Updater or Vantiv 001234 Updater.
    • In the Merchant ID field, enter the merchant ID (MID) that Vantiv (now Worldpay) provided for your merchant account.
Note: If you have more than one Vantiv merchant account, confirm with Vantiv which merchant account to use for the Account Updater service. Zuora recommends that you configure the Account Updater service on a single MID and run all cards against that service. Configuring the service for each MID can cause the same card to be updated multiple times, which might result in additional transaction fees.
  4. Select the updater services that you want to enable: VISA, MasterCard, or both.
  5. Configure the updater rules.

In the Start Payment Method Updater service days prior to the Bill Cycle Day field, enter the number of days before the bill cycle day on which the updater service runs. The default value is 10. Because the Vantiv Updater service takes about 5 days to process credit card updates, Zuora recommends a value between 6 and 10 days.

Select Only update payment methods for customer accounts associated to this gateway/processor to limit updates to credit cards on customer accounts that meet either of the following conditions:

    • The default payment gateway of the customer account is set to Vantiv (now Worldpay) in the Billing and Payment Info section on the Customer Account page.
    • The default payment gateway of the customer account is not configured, but the default payment gateway of the tenant is set to Vantiv (now Worldpay).

Clear this checkbox to send all credit card information to Vantiv (now Worldpay).

Select Only update the default payment method for AutoPay customer accounts to limit updates to the default credit card payment methods on customer accounts that have AutoPay enabled. Clear this checkbox to submit data for all credit cards on all customer accounts, regardless of whether AutoPay is enabled.

  6. Click Save Account Information to save the updater configuration.

Zuora starts an automated process that, on the specified number of days before the bill cycle day, searches every billing account, collects the applicable credit card information, and sends it to Vantiv (now Worldpay) for processing. Zuora also checks for updates to the credit card information.
