Charge Segment metrics in Quote Studio UI

This article describes how Charge Segment metrics are represented in the Quote Studio UI for new subscription ramp quotes, amendments, and renewals, including scenarios with term changes, multiple updates, and removals.

New subscription ramp quotes

When you enable Charge Segment metrics for New Subscription ramp quotes in Quote Studio Admin Config, the Charge Subtotal and interval metrics for ramp intervals are calculated from period-aligned Charge Segment metrics instead of invoice item metrics.

This behavior is controlled by the admin settings under Zuora Config > Quote Studio Settings > Admin Config:

  • Enable Charge Segment Metrics

  • Use Charge Segment metrics to populate Charge Level metrics in: New Subscription Ramp Quotes

With these settings enabled:

  • The Charge Subtotal column for ramped new subscription quotes reflects Gross TCB values from Charge Segments, distributed across intervals based on the ramp interval start and end dates.

  • The Interval Metrics panel (on the Quote Ramp Interval object) displays interval total fields that align with the Charge Segment–based ramp distribution, ensuring that the sum of interval subtotals equals the subscription total. The Interval Metrics panel is currently available only in Single Subscription Quoting.

  • When the new Ramp Interval metric fields are added to the UI via the appropriate field sets, metrics no longer front-load the entire amount into the first ramp interval when invoice items do not exist in later intervals (for example, an annual charge across multiple ramp intervals).
