Create a new route

Learn how to create and publish a payment processing route in Modernized Zuora Payments to control how transactions are directed to fraud solutions, processors, and acquirers.

Note:

This feature is available only with the Modernized Zuora Payments add-on SKU.

To access the Early Adopter program, contact your Zuora account representative.

Ensure that you have configured the payment processors connections and payment method connections in the Connections section.

  1. In the left navigation pane, navigate to Zuora Payments > Routing.
  2. Select a payment method, and then click Set up or View.
The payment method panel is displayed.
  3. Click Create new route.
  4. Enter a name for the route, and then click Save.
  5. Click Add new condition to define the condition that triggers the payment processing route.
    1. Enter a name for the condition.
    2. Enter a description for the condition.
    3. Select and define one or more condition types to narrow the route usage.
The available conditions vary based on the selected payment method. Select a condition to view the configuration options.
    4. Click Save.
  6. Add connections to the condition:
    1. Click the arrow next to the condition, and then click Add step.
    2. From the list of available connections, select a fraud solution, processor, or acquirer, and then click Select.
    3. If you select more than one connection, click Next, and then do one of the following:
      • Configure routing: Specify the percentage of payments that route through each connection.
      • Configure smart routing: Select Smart Routing to allocate payments automatically based on your preferences. See Configure Smart Routing.
  7. For each connection, define paths for the Succeeded, Declined, and Error outcomes.

When configuring a Succeeded > Capture option from a processor, you are defining a timed and automatic capture. This automatically converts the default transaction into an Authorize operation, followed by a Capture operation after the specified delay period. Only configure this path if your business workflow requires delayed captures.

To perform the default operation (such as Verify when adding a payment method, or Sale for standard payments), leave the Succeeded output unconnected.

  8. After you add all steps to the route, click Publish to make the route available for the selected payment method.
